The residents of Akraman-Okushibiade in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region have registered their protest by abandoning the market put up by the main opposition National Democratic Congress’ Member of Parliament (MP) for the Amassaman Constituency.
The area located near Ashalaja area known for sand winning activities has not seen any consent development over the years.
Reports say residents are always forced to accept developmental projects that they are not content within the name of politics.
According to the residents, their decision to boycott the market facility was because it is located between the town and a cemetery in the area.
A resident told the checkoutghana.com that they cannot be selling food items close to a cemetery hence the decision to boycott the market.
They further said the facility was hurriedly built during the 2016 elections and has since been abandoned by the community.
He said the facility was abandoned by the community because they were not consulted in the decision to build the market at the current location.
Because of this, the market is currently not being used by the people of the area.
The residents said they are not enthused about the location hence their decision to disassociate themselves from the market which is and now gathering glass and dust.
However, the MP for the Amassaman, Emmanuel Nii Lamptey is proud to hang his poster on the property depicting it as is one of his projects in the Constituency.
