The Central Regional Minister Kwamena Duncan has asked residents of Efutu and those around St Augustines college to remain calm as the government continues to consult with chiefs, opinion leaders and Headmasters over the citing of a COVID-19 holding center.

Yesterday residents of Effutu in Cape Coast and teachers at St Augustine’s college staged a protest over the selection of the Effutu Senior High School and the St Augustine’s college as isolation centers for the treatment of COVID-19 cases.

But the residents will have none of that as they blocked the roads to prevent authorities from getting to the school for fear that the citing of the facility in the communities may put their lives at risk.

Speaking to Ibrahim Kwarteng on Behind the News Mr. Duncan said the government will not do anything that will put the lives of residents at risk.
