The Ashanti regional director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Kwabena Senkyire has volunteered to pay all aggrieved acting directors of the Eastern region their outstanding arrears.

Mr. Senkyire says his condition would be for them to resign from their position and get paid because they have exercised bad faith.

He told Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that the aggrieved workers had no basis for threatening to embark on a demonstration.

He indicated that the acting directors shod have engaged with authorities on the matter because efforts were underway to get them paid.

Acting Municipal and District Directors of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in the Eastern Region threatened to embark on a demonstration should government fail to pay them their 18 months outstanding arrears.

The directors gave government till July 5, 2019, to address their concerns or they will picket at the National Headquarters of NADMO and subsequently embark on Nationwide demonstration and worst of all resign en bloc.

A statement issued to that effect said: ‘’ “We are looking forward that our 18 months arrears are paid and better conditions of Service given us. We are giving an ultimatum up to July 5, 2019 for the stakeholders involved to pay us, if they fail all the directors across the country will storm the National Headquarters, if they fail to pay us we will embark on demonstration in Accra and if they are still adamant to pay us we will all resign because after all, we were surviving before we were appointed”.

A spokesperson for the directors Mr. Appienti Emmanuel at a press conference in Koforidua, Mr. Appienti Emmanuel said since assuming office on January 16, 2018, after receiving their appointment letters on December 15, 2017 none of the Directors have been paid his/her salary and neither have they been provided with conditions of service

“We were given appointment letters to act as Municipal and District NADMO Directors. The letter was issued 15th December 2017 which we resumed office 16th January 2018 so when you calculate it means we have worked for the past 18 months.

“In fact, we do know that if you are employed at least between 3 to 5 months you need to start receiving a salary but that is not our situation. The sad aspect is that nobody is talking to us exactly when we will be paid, this is affecting us very well because most of us were already working, some were teachers, businesses men, and women, but all these people resigned to take the NADMO position yet not paid for 18 months, how do you expect such person to survive and take care of his family?

But Mr. Senkyire slammed the acting directors insisting their threat was unwarranted.
