Kumasi,(Ashanti Region) 14th Oct. '98 An Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Haruna Wadudu, has asked Muslims to avoid religious intolerance and respect the constitutional rights of every Ghanaian to freedom of worship.
He told them that Islam frowns upon violence and that there should be no compulsion in religion. Sheikh Wadudu said this at a forum held at Aboabo in Kumasi to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Mohammed. It was attended by a large congregation of Islamic followers, with some of the participants coming from America, Nigeria, Benin, Cote d' Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Togo.
"Differences of religious teachings and doctrines should not incense us to be at each other's throat," Sheikh Wadudu added.
