Accra, Sept 20, GNA - Mr Stephen Ashitey Adjei, the Democratic Freedom Party's (DFP) candidate for Tema East in the 2008 elections has urged delegates to the forthcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) primary to retain marketable and winnable candidates.

He said learning from political history would ensure that they retain power in 2012.

Ghana's political history has revealed that almost all retained flag-bearers and parliamentary candidates had worked in favour of the political parties and NDC needed to learn from that and retain majority of their parliamentary candidates to guarantee victory for the party in 2012.

In a statement in Accra and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday, Mr Adjei declared his support for the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr Robert Kempes Ofosuware, whom he described as a marketable and winnable personality.

"In mainstream politics, one cannot outline the sine qua non of success at elections without mentioning the 91winnability' of the candidate as a factor," he said.

DFP has rejoined the NDC after breaking away for almost 10 years.
