Return Ghana soldiers on UN missions – Anglican priest

The Metropolitan Archbishop of the Anglican Church of the Province of West Africa Most Reverend Dr. Daniel Yinkah-Sarfo is asking government to repatriate Ghanaian soldiers deployed on UN peace keeping missions abroad.

According to him, there are pressing issues back home that require the services of the soldiers on peace keeping missions.

Most Rev Dr. Yinkah-Sarfo is a former Major of the Ghana Armed Forces.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, he said the services of the officers on peace keeping are urgently needed in view of the heightened threats of terrorism in the West African sub-region.

Most Reverend Dr. Yinkah-Sarfo said the recent terrorist attack on a hotel in Ougadougou, skirmishes between illegal miners and mining companies, the Fulani menace as well as serial and contract killing should not be underestimated.

He said there is no point to keep the soldiers on foreign missions when all is not well with security at home.

Most Reverend Dr. Yinkah-Sarfo served in the military for over 15 years and was decorated with three UN medals alongside one ECOMOG medal in peace keeping.
