Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi has revealed that striking Spanish coach Gerald Nus threatened the Ghana FA with a boycott during the African Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Nus, who was one of Avram Grant’s assistants during the 2017 African Cup of Nations is on a war path with the GFA and has decided to embark on a sit-in strike in Accra till he is paid his entitlements for his service.

SportsObama.com earlier reported of the Rayo Vallecano technical director petitioning the Spanish Embassy in Accra citing unfair and unacceptable treatment from the GFA and the sports ministry.

The GFA has continuously assured the Spanish trainer of payment once funds are made available by the government but Nus insists he will not fly out of Accra until he is settled.

GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has however slammed Nus’s “strange posture” saying there is nothing peculiar in his case, as he is not the only member of the technical staff owed

Kwesi discloses that the standoff between Nus and GFA started in Gabon, “He’s generally hysterical. He started this attitude in Gabon. One day he threatened not to go for training with the team because his contract status wasn’t clarified” he told Inside Africa Football (IAF).

Nus, a former backroom staffer at Liverpool under Rafael Benitez, joined Ghana purposely for the 2017 Afcon, which was his second stint following a similar role at the 2015 edition in Equatorial Guinea.
