Nayele Ametefe aka Angel aka Ruby Adu-Gyamfi, who was arrested at the Heathrow Airport in London for possessing 12.5 kilos of cocaine, also had in her possession a whopping $64,000 at the time of her arrest.
Additionally, the 32-year-old was said to be in possession of £6,000 which were all confiscated by the British Drug Enforcement Administration upon her arrest on November 10 last year.
Nayele Ametefe, aka Angel was been sentenced at the Isleworth Crown Court in London on January 6, 2015 to an eight-year and eight months jail term for transporting cocaine into the UK.
Prior to her arrest, Nayele boarded British Airways flight number BA 078 from Accra to London on 9th November, 2014.
She had in her possession two suitcases of which only one of the suitcases was checked in (Baggage tag number BA 059801) and nothing of interest was found.
In the other suitcase which was believed to be hand carried onto the plane, 10kgs of cocaine was found among her clothing.
Ms. Nayele Ametefe travelled on Australian passport number P4187659 and not on Ghanaian Diplomatic passport.
According to reports, security officials and intelligence agencies across 23 countries in Europe, Asia and the Americas had for the past three years been tracking Nayele Ametefe, who has managed in several instances to avoid arrest using various aliases.
The street value of the cocaine carried by Nayele was approximately 1.9 million Pounds.
