Twifo Praso (C/R), July 9, GNA - Mr Yaw Agyeibi-Kesse, District Chief Executive of Twifo-Heman-Lower Denkyira District of the Central Region, on Friday called on revenue collectors not to politicize their operation to ensure effective collection of revenue for the district. He said the development of the district was the responsibility of all and urged revenue collectors to use effective communication skills to educate and encourage people to pay their rates to enhance the revenue base of the assembly.
Mr Agyeibi-Kesse made the call during the closing session of a 3-day capacity building workshop at Twifo Praso.
The workshop, jointly organised by women in the Lord's Vineyard (WITLOV), an NGO based in Tema and the German Development Service (DED) was under the theme "An Efficient District Assembly Staff: A Tool for Ensuring Effective Local Governance" and was attended by 70 participants comprising revenue officers, administrative officers and secretariat staff of the assembly.
It was to empower the participants to perform creditably and also to improve upon the management of district revenue mobilization and human relations.
Mr Agyeibi-Kesse expressed his gratitude to the organizers and sponsors for coming to the aid of the assembly to help upgrade the knowledge of staff and asked the participants to reflect the scope of the workshop to ensure maximum productivity.
