In a bid to dismiss the tag placed on him following his meeting with the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, the leader of Anointed Palace Chapel (APC) worldwide, Reverend Kwaku Agyei Antwi, also known as Rev. Obofour, has revealed details of a meeting he had with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in 2022.

In a video addressing the claims made against him following the meeting on October 1, 2024, Reverend Obofour disclosed that he had the honor of hosting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at his private residence in Accra.

He recounted receiving a call one Tuesday from the Vice President’s office with the message that Dr. Bawumia intended to pay a courtesy call on him later in the day.

Reverend Obofour said he was shocked as the offer was against the norm of pastors and religious leaders visiting the president or his vice at the Jubilee House.

“I was there one Tuesday when I received a call that the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana was going to pay me a visit. That was two years ago. Initially, I was shocked and asked if they were serious. He came exactly at the time he promised. My wife and children were there, and I have to say that he is a very humble man.

“He mentioned my name, which indicates that he knew me quite well. I have met him multiple times. For a Vice President to visit me instead of asking me to visit him shows how humble he is. He wasn’t even a running mate or flagbearer. He came to my house at Trasacco. He came with Dr. Gideon Boako, and that’s where our friendship began,” he said.

Reverend Obofour was one of a number of Christian leaders in the country who were present at John Mahama’s meeting with the clergy on October 5, 2024.

During the encounter, Reverend Obofour posed three questions to John Mahama, focusing on the cost of building materials, the performance of the cedi against major currencies, and fares of public transport.

“Everyone’s dream is to build, but we haven’t heard anything about cement during campaigns, so please talk about it and iron rods,” he said.

“Now the dollar is speaking a different language, the value difference. Please, what will you do about it when you win power?” Obofour asked.

“Before, people could buy porridge with the coins left after boarding trotro, but now trotro fares are expensive. What will you do about it?”
