Labour Analyst, Austin Gamey says the National Communication Director for governing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah is not qualified to talk on issues of Corporate Governance.
Richard Ahaigbah in a tweet on X stated that the strike action declared by Organized Labour over the sale of SSNIT Hotels can harm Corporate Governance and unfortunate.
“This could harm corporate governance, market confidence, and overall certainty. Just as we are bound to respect a referee’s decision in a football game, we must also abide by the outcomes of democratic processes, even if they don’t align with our preferences.
“While I empathize with the workers’ concerns, we must also consider the implications of impeding a legitimate corporate decision. We must deeply reflect on the potential long-term consequences of this precedent.”
Commenting on the development on Morning Starr with Lantam Papanko on Morning, the Labour Analyst indicated that Mr. Ahiagbah spoke like an NPP Communicator.
“The government has no right to make decisions on such matters. This is a highly aggravated issue, a matter that can derail the lives of people who are vulnerable and have no voice.
“Organized Labour must be sensitive, proactive, and have the concern and the will of the people at heart. Because the government will not do it. They are partisan political operatives. And because of the partisan nature of Ghana, and the operations of politics in Ghana, you cannot have corporate governance for such a situation.
“So, he does not really know what he is talking about. Corporate governance is a different ballgame altogether. And I don’t think he qualifies to talk about this. I’m sorry”, Mr. Gamey stated.
