The Ridge Church School has organised its annual ‘Speech and Prize-giving’ day ceremony as part of its 60th anniversary celebration.
The ceremony which was held on Saturday, July 15 at the school’s premises, under the theme ‘Six decades of Christian education: Thanks be to God!’ was attended by both old and current students as well as old and current teachers. The First Lady of the Republic, Rebecca Akufo-Addo was also there as the special guest of honour for the occasion.
The students entertained guests, which included their parents to a variety of activities such as drama, music and dance.
Headmistress of the School, Afua Dake in her address, expressed gratitude to God for how far he has brought the school since its inception on January 7, 1957.
She was also grateful to past members of the school’s board, past headmistresses and staff for their dedicated service to the school over the years.
She said “I take this opportunity to thank past member of the school board as well as past headmistresses and staff who have worked assiduously to make Ridge Church School what it is today. I feel privileged that God has given us the opportunity to be associated with this success story”.
Some deserving pupils and past students received awards for excelling in various subjects of study as well as the 2016 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Both teaching and non-teaching staff also received awards for dedicated service to the school.
The day was also used to dedicate students who just completed the school into the hands of God as they move on to the next stage in their lives.
Founded at the request of expatriates whose children attended the Sunday school of the ridge Church but had no day school to cater for their normal educational needs, with 33 children being its first set of pupils, the Ridge Church School can now boast of hundreds of students as well as over a thousand old students who are making the school proud in various fields.
