Ridge school to commence SHS Programme next year

Kumasi, Dec. 14, GNA - The Ridge School, a private basic school at Danyame in Kumasi, would from the next academic year, begin the Senior Hi= gh School (SHS) programme. Professor John Owusu-Addo, Chairman of the Board of Governors, said they had already acquired a parcel of land to build the needed structures= .. He was addressing the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the school in Kumasi at the weekend. It was on the theme; "Quality Basic Education, the Way Forward". Professor Owusu-Addo commended the school for academic performance, discipline and environmental sanitation. Mr Edward Effah, Managing Director (MD) of the Fidelity Bank and an old student, underscored the importance of education in nation building. He urged parents and guardians to ensure that the education of their=

children become the number one priority.

Mr Effah attributed the school's excellent academic performance over th= e years to hard work, commitment and dedication of both the teaching and non-teaching staff and advised the children to focus on their studies. Oheneba Adusei-Poku, Akyempimhene of Kumasi, praised the school for the quality of its products, found in leadership positions in all sectors of the economy. Mr R.K. Owusu, Headmaster of the School, commended the Founding Fath= ers for their initiative and foresight. He praised the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) for fencing, construction of a library block and Computer Centre for the school. The school, which was started with 15 children, now has a pupil population of 300 and more than 30 teaching and non-teaching staff.
