Robbers last week Monday, raided the Winneba Constituency office of the Member of Parliament for Effutu, Mike Hammah, and made away with a desktop computer, a television set and some official documents.

Confirming the story to the Ghanaian Times last Saturday, the Winneba District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Martin Asamoah, said the incident happened at a time the security man at the office was out of post due to ill-health.

The police, he said, had no clue yet as to those behind the robbery but assured that they would be hunted out.

DSP Asamoah said the security man had been interrogated and is currently on police enquiry bail. He said the case was reported to the police by the minister’s secretary, Kate Bonney. Speaking to the Ghanaian Times in his office, Mr. Hammah said that he was out of town when the incident occurred.

“It was when I returned that I got to know about what really happened. The incident was an organised crime and a deliberate act," he said, and suspected that the robbers were there purposely to steal office documents because other valuable equipment such as the air conditioners, refrigerators, and other items were intact.

Mr. Hammah said he was disappointed, emphasizing that the act would hamper the efficiency of his workers since information stored on the computer was a key.
