Mr Ezekiel Tagoe, Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Revenue Collector was on Wednesday treated and discharged at the Mamprobi Polyclinic with severe cutlass wounds following an attack on him at Zabrama Line in the Ablekuma Central Constituency.

The robbers suspected to be responsible for a number of robberies in the area are believed to engage in carjacking which they use in other robbery operations.

Narrating his ordeal to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Mr Tagoe said he was standing by the roadside to pick a trotro to Accra in the morning at about 0400 hours when two robbers emerged from their hideout at a place called “Akoo Store” and charged on him to surrender whatever he had on him.

He said the robbers pushed him down as he was struggling with them resisting their orders and they managed to snatch his bag containing an amount of GH¢140, Voter’s and office identity cards, payment receipt and also destroyed the AMA ticket machine.

Mr Tagoe said a Police patrol team who had mounted a barrier at a place called “Mango Down” in the area appeared at the scene soon after the robbers had fled and sent him to the Dansoman Police Station.

The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, Mr Theophilus Tetteh Chaie upon hearing the incident sent the revenue collector to the Mamprobi Polyclinic for treatment.

Information gathered by the GNA indicates that the residents have been living in constant fear of robbery attacks for the past few months as the robbers have their hideouts at the nearby “Fari Kafuta”.
