A group of armed robbery gang last night engaged personnel of the Ghana Police Service in a serious gun battle after the police chased them following a distress call.

The incident occurred around 10:30pm in Nsukwao, a Suburb of the New Juaben Municipality after the robbers had robbed a resident.

The robbers had rammed their vehicle into a parked car after their car had flat tyre following a hot chase by a Police patrol team.

Made up of a female and four males, the armed robbers jumped off their car and started opening fire at the Police while running to safety.

The police however could not return proportionate counter-attack because residents were caught in the heat of the gun battle thereby giving the armed robbers an added advantage to escape.
