Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse Productions, Robert Klah, has addressed concerns over sound challenges experienced during the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

He stated that the issue represented only a small portion of the overall production.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on May 14, 2026, Robert Klah explained that the sound quality varied depending on how audiences consumed the event, whether inside the auditorium, on DStv, TV3, or through online streaming platforms.

“For the sound, l we need to have a 360 view about it. There’s a sound that’s coming from the auditorium and I think for the most part, we were all happy about it, except for some portions and patches. However, I think on TV, the sound experience was also different in terms of the 2 key television platforms, DSTV and TV3,” he said.

According to him, feedback received so far suggests that most of the complaints were linked to what viewers experienced online rather than what was heard live at the venue.

“The comments I’ve heard usually are tied to what was happening online. These are some of the things we’re also discussing to understand,” he stated.

Robert Klah noted that the technical team has indicated that the audio feed was delivered uniformly to all broadcast partners, raising questions about what may have happened after the signal left the sound console.

“When you speak to the sound people, they tell you that the output they gave, they gave it to everybody. That means when the sound leaves the console of the sound engineer, the question is, what happened before it went out through the various channels,” he explained.

He stressed that sound remains one of the most critical elements of any music event and acknowledged that even a small technical issue can attract significant attention.

“Those are things that we would also like to get into and pick the key lessons from them. Obviously, music programmes, sound is one of the key things and you realise that anytime there’s a conversation about these things, it still comes back to sound. It’s always the sound component,” he shared.

Klah added that earlier events, such as the nominees announcement and the Experience Concert did not encounter similar challenges, which made the final night’s issues unexpected.

“The nominees announcement and Experience Concert, we didn’t experience that, so we were just hoping to achieve the same experience for the finale. I’m just glad that the most part of the experience, this forms about less than 5% of the issues, but for events like this, even if it’s 2%, it’s loud,” he added.
