The Rotaract Club of Accra-Labone donates to the Cantonments Divisional and District Police HQ.
The Rotaract Club of Accra-Labone has donated computer, printer, Television set and a Rotary Four-Way Test to the Cantonments Divisional and District Police Headquarters under one of its annual flagship projects, Tour De Labone.
The community club made the presentation last Saturday on the National Volunteers’ Day to help the Police discharge their duty efficiently.
Presenting the items to Divisional and District Command, President of the Rotaract Club of Accra-Labone, Albert Amekudzi explained that donation was as a result of discussion with the Police to identify their urgent needs and address them.
Mr. Amekudzi stated, “During a discussion with the Police on what the club could do to support them, the above items, especially the computer and printer were listed as the pressing needs of the police, hence the decision to provide them.”
He noted that the club added the Rotary Four-Way Test to encourage the police to abide them in the discharge of their duty. The Four-Way Test guides all Rotarians and Rotaractors in what they think, say or do in their daily lives.
The Club President further urged the youth to support the police in the discharge of their duties by providing them with the right information at the right time.
“Policing is a shared responsibility and we as Rotaractors believe the youth of this country needs to partner the police and share the right information at the right time. Good intelligence can help the police protect citizens,” he stressed.
Mr. Amekudzi also explained that the club will continue to engage the police and support them in the discharge of their duties.
Receiving the items, Divisional and District Commander, Chief Superintendent William Asante thanked the club and urged the youth to share relevant information with the police to help them fight crime in the country.
Mr. Asante explained that “the police is your friend, hence you can walk in at any time to share relevant information with us. Let us work together as partners in the country and do not be afraid to share any information that can help us in our work.”
Tour De Labone is an annual event of Rotaract Club of Accra-Labone where Rotaractors and Rotarians ride bicycles from Aviation Social Center through Cantonments to Labone and other parts of the city to embark on a project.
This year, the club selected Cantonments District Police Headquarters to execute a project under Rotary International’s Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution Focus Area.
