Rotaract Club of Accra-Osu supports Danfa community hospital, school to mark global handwashing day

The Rotaract Club of Accra-Osu RE has donated Veronica Buckets, Basins, Stands and soaps to the Danfa Community Hospital and School to mark the Global Handwashing Day. The club made this donation last Saturday, 20th of October, 2018.

The Handwashing Project forms part of the clubs Community Development Project initiative. The purpose of this donation was to promote health conditions by helping children and people in the community to prevent micro bacterial infections by washing their hands with clean water and soap regularly.

Presenting the Veronica Buckets and other items to the school, the President of the Rotaract Club of Accra Osu RE, Dr. Harold Nii-Aponsah explained that every human being, mostly children use their hands for all activities. Most children even forget to wash their hands after playing or even before eating their meals thereby causing ingestion of germs and other infections.

He also stated that most diseases could be prevented if we routinely wash our hands with clean water and soap. He added that this triggered the decision of the club to donate these buckets and other items to the Danfa Community School and Hospital to aid Handwashing.

Mrs. Aseye Apetsi, the Senior Physician Assistant – in – charge of the Danfa Health Centre stated that, “Educating kids in the community on washing their hands regularly has always been part of the Social Responsibility of the Hospital.”

She added that the Hospital just embarked on a campaign and spoke to the students of community school about the importance of handwashing on the previous Monday, 15th October, 2018 to mark the Global Handwashing Day.

She therefore expressed how elated the authorities of the Hospital were and also said that “this donation has come at the right time.” She said in order to spread the impact to the whole community, they will therefore give out some of the Veronica Buckets to the neighboring community school.

She added that this would help affect the lives of the students, children and the community as a whole to help them live and stay out of germs.

The Rotaract President of the club said “he would ensure that the club makes this donation to other students, hospitals and communities to impact and inspire more lives and even requested that the club can collaborate with the Danfa Community Hospital to celebrate the Global Handwashing Day in subsequent years.

Mrs. Aseye Apetsi and other officers of the Danfa Community Hospital receiving the Veronica Buckets, basins and soaps expressed gratitude to the Rotaract Club of Accra Osu-RE and noted that the Veronica buckets and the other items would be used for its rightful purpose.
