Rotary Club donates PPE to Association of Doctors in Residency

The Rotary Club of Ghana, Friends and Family, have donated PPE's to support Frontline Health Care Providers through the request received from the Ghana Association of Doctors in Residency (GADoR).

The presentation, according to the Assistant Governor Rotary International District 9102 Dr. Nii Akwei Addo, follows reports of a shortage of PPE and other materials required by the frontline medical personnel at designated hospitals in their fight against the coronavirus.

According to Dr. Nii Akwei Addo Funds were mobilized through generous donations from Rotary Clubs in Ghana, Individual Rotarians, Friends and Family.

The items presented include Hand sanitizers, N95 masks, Protective eye shields, Surgical gloves, Examination gloves

, Coveralls, Goggles (safety), Veronica buckets, Paper towels, Soap (hand-washing), Face masks.

The current gesture, worth about $15, 000 forms part of one of Rotary International Areas of Focus  which is "Disease Prevention" and Control. 

Dr. Nii Akwei Addo again added that the first phase of donations and additional items are being procured to support the response to COVID-19.

General secretary of the association of doctors in residency, Dr. Florence Akumiah in thanking Rotary Ghana noted that the items presented “are really the things that we have been lacking, particularly the PPE, surgical face masks, coveralls, and the items that are really needed” and that are grateful to the Rotarians for this kind gesture.

Dr. Florence Akumiah who received the PPE's on behalf of the Association of doctors in residency thanked Rotary Ghana for their kind gestures and noted the items presented “are really the things that we been lacking, particularly the PPE, surgical face masks, coveralls.

Rotary International is an international service organisation whose stated purpose is to bring together business and Professional Leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and to advance Goodwill and Peace around the world.
