Former President John Agyekum Kufuor is not fleeing the country as being speculated on social media, his Spokesperson Frank Agyekum has told XYZ News.
“That’s not true; the former president is in town. He hasn’t gone anywhere; he’s right here in Accra with us…he’s been here the whole day; he’s here throughout tonight and he is not going anywhere. I wonder where that rumour is coming from”, Mr. Agyekum told Radio XYZ’s flagship news magazine programme ‘Strict Proof’ on the eve of judgment day.
He said Mr. Kufuor believes the Judges will do a good job and let justice prevail with the hope that “the decision will come our way”.
Social media site facebook, was on Wednesday replete with rumours that Mr. Kufuor was flying out of the country for fear of possible post-verdict mayhem.
The Herald Newspaper had also reported days earlier that there were scrambles for flights going outside Ghana ahead of the pronouncement of the verdict on Thursday.
There were also reports by Metro TV that people flooded the banks to withdraw huge sums of money on the eve of judgment day out of fears of possible conflict.
Other reports claim people are hoarding food while some businesses have declared today a holiday for their staff.
