A delegation from the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) Ghana branch yesterday called on the families of the victims who lost their lives at the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) at their residences in Ashaiman and Accra.
The delegation which was led by Evangelist Samuel Excellence to the bereaved families was to allow SCOAN to sympathise with them and inform them about willingness of the church to partner them to give their lost relations befitting burials.
On Sunday, May 19, four people died in a stampede at the Ghana branch of SCOAN when thousands of people stormed the premises of the church for the anointing water.
The four victims were John Brainoo, a 61-year-old member of the church who lived at Ashaiman; Esther Adabadzi, 39, a worker at Mass Education Field Work Community Development, Amasaman and a resident of Achimota; Mike Teye, 36, a businessman who lived at Ashaiman and Emmanuel Thomas Addo, a 69-year-old man, also a member of the church and a resident of Darkuman.
When the delegation got to homes of the four victims family members are said to have wept uncontrollably.
The first call of the delegation was the residence of the late Mike Teye at Ashaiman Official Town and the delegation was met by Mr. Joseph Larweh, who indicated that they were shocked on hearing the news of the death of their relative, who had gone to the SCOAN to seek the face of God but lost his life in the process. Mr. Larweh quoated a Biblical Scripture:
“Even though Jesus Christ had been in the world, his forerunner, John the Baptist, had been molested and beheaded”
His explanation was that it did not mean that Jesus could not save John but that was appointed unto John to die at that time.
At the residence of the late Mr. Brainoo at Ashaiman-Lebanon, the delegation interacted with the Brainoo family and the spokesperson for the family, Ms Harriet Brainoo, said: “It has not been easy but we accept his death in good faith. It was an accident for my dad who was just attending his normal Sunday service at his church to meet his untimely death.”
At the residence of the late Adabazi at Santa Maria in Accra, Mr Samuel Atteh, who spoke for the family, said the Almighty God called their beloved daughter into eternity and she is with her creator.
The delegation final place of call was at the residence of the Late Thomas Addo at Darkuman.
Mr Ibrahim Addo, the head of the late Addo’s family, said the death Mr. Addo has affected the family and came as a shock to them.
He the late Mr. Addo went to serve his Creator at the SCOAN but never came back. Mr. Ibrahim Addo said: “It is Allah who brought us into this world and he knows when he wants to take us away.”
Evangelist Excellence indicated to the families of the four victims that the “visit of the delegation was at the instruction of Prophet Joshua who had also accepted total responsibility for Sunday’s incident, which led to the death of the four persons and injury to 13 others”.
He also said Prophet Joshua has taken up all expenses including medical expenses and welfare of the victims. He has also offered to compensate the bereaved families and ask for God’s blessings for them and said not only will the families receive financial support from Prophet T.B. Joshua but also spiritual support.
The delegation also presented a token amount of money to the four bereaved families for the arrangement meeting of the families in planning the funeral and burial for their beloved relatives.
Evangelist Excellence had said “what happened outside the premises of the church” was an unfortunate incident and prayed to God that never again should such an incident happen.
