SFD Foundation in collaboration with Ghana Education Service and Youth Challenge International-eQWip HUBS Project on Friday 15 March 2019 held a very successful, impactful and inspiring program with female final year students from 22 schools in the Upper East Region (Bolgatanga) over 625 participants, with a double theme: Facing my BECE with Confidence- testimonies of how we made it.

This event is an initiative aimed at inspiring candidates to face their anxiety and fears with confidence as they prepare to have their first external exams with life testimonies from our facilitators.

This also seeks to advance the Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 4 & 5 thus, ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all and Achieving gender equality and empower all women and girls respectively.

Candidates were therefore encouraged and made to understand how to handle their fears and anxieties visa -vis using the knowledge they have acquired in school to successfully pass their upcoming exam.

The event was honoured by the Upper East Regional Minister, Hon.Paulina Patience Abayage and madam Gify Volinkarime, Country Director of Youth Challenge International- eQWiP HUBS project.

In attendances were also representatives from the Municipal education office, some teachers from the 22 schools, media and staff/collaborators of SFD Foundation.

The facilitators shared deeply their life testimonies, the limitations experienced in the past and with determination how they made it.

This insightful sharing was an encouragement for students to know they too can make it despite their current challenges.

"Educations is a game changer" the Regional Minister, Hon. Pauline Patience Abayage said. "Never drop out of school no matter the challenges of today" she added.

"You have all it takes today to make it to the top" the second speaker madam Gify Volinkarime, country Director of eQWiP HUBS encouraged students.

"Let the difficulties you face today push you to succeed and not to fail" she added.

Students also had the opportunity to ask very essential questions which were addressed by the various speakers. With smiles and appreciation some of them expressed how happy they were to be part of the program and promised to put what they have heard into good use.
