SHS Student Found Dead On Campus

Students of Tempane Senior High School (SHS) in the Upper East Region woke up last Wednesday to the unfortunate murder of one of their own, Georgina Kombet, a 20-year old form two student.

Georgina, whose death has sent shivers down the spines of both residents and students, was found dead on a footpath leading to her school.

Family members and friends of Georgina especially the father Mr. Emmanuel Kombet, is at a loss as to how his daughter could die in such a mysterious manner without traces of what actually happened to her.

According to a distressed Mr. Kombet, Georgina came back from school over the weekend for money for her up keep at school, but they could not raise the said money for her to return to school the same day so she spent the weekend with them.

On Tuesday March 20, when she was provided with the money, she could again not embark on her journey to school because time was far spent, and so she needed to sleep over to leave for school on Wednesday, the day she died.

He indicated that while at home a call came through the deceased’s phone but the caller, whose name appeared on her phone only as Daniel.

A brother of Georgina picked the call, but the caller terminated the call, when he realized a male voice had responded instead of the intended receiver, Georgina.

Later, the father said, Georgina took the phone from her brother who had answered the call earlier and left to one Bismark for a book.

Francis Kombet, brother to the deceased corroborating the father’s account disclosed that shortly after his sister left, her friend whose name was only given as Afia came to ask of her whereabout. By this time, Georgina had returned from her earlier visit to her male friend Bismark.

She again left with Afia at about 8pm and was never seen until the next morning when she was found lifeless. Speaking to this paper, the Headmaster of the school, Issah Saani Mahama, indicated that he learnt about the development when he had a call from the chief of the area, who told him of the sudden death of one his students.

According to him, he quickly informed the police and dashed to the school to identify the said student, who was lying down in a prostrate position.

The body, which had no physical signs of abuse, has since been deposited at the Quality Medical Center for autopsy. Meanwhile, police sources say they believe Georgina was killed somewhere and her body dumped at the school.
