A 19-year-old Senior High School student, who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend after suspecting him of cheating, has been incarcerated for two weeks by an Accra Circuit Court.

The accused person, Adwoa Asante who stabbed her boyfriend, one Emmanuel Allan David three times at the jaw, left hand and upper lips, was yesterday charged with causing harm at the court presided over by Audrey Korcu-Vie Tay.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Her lawyer prayed the court for bail since the offence she was facing was bailable but the trial judge refused to grant her bail and remanded her to re-appear on May 24.

The prosecutor DSP Reindorf Agyemang presenting the facts of the case stated that the complainant, Allan David, is unemployed living at Mamprobi while Adwoa Asante is a student and lives at Zongo Lane, Accra.

He disclosed that the complainant and accused have been lovers for the past three years.

Few weeks ago, the accused allegedly became pregnant and told the complainant that she wanted to abort it.

Allan David, according to the prosecutor, did not agree to it but found out later that Adwoa had secretly aborted the pregnancy.

This therefore brought a misunderstanding between them.

DSP Agyemang indicated that on May 3, 2013, Adwoa saw the complainant with another lady and suspected a foul play.

The accused reportedly confronted her boyfriend and the lady for which he got offended.

The prosecutor stated that on May 5, 2013 at about 10:00pm, Allan David approached Adwoa with the intention of resolving the problem between them but, again, it ended up in a quarrel with the two exchanging words.

Suddenly, the accused picked a knife and stabbed the complainant’s left jaw, left hand and upper lip.

The complainant reported the matter to the police and a medical form was issued to him to attend hospital for treatment.

The accused who allegedly admitted the offence after investigation was charged with the offence.
