SHS student dies from suspected poisoning after receiving death threats

A 17 year old second year student of the St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Senior Technical School at Kibi in the eastern region met his untimely death after his drink was allegedly poisoned on Friday.

Boris Commodore is reported to have returned from prep on Friday November 25 and took a milo drink and later had gari soakings before complaining of severe stomach pains followed by vomiting of blood. According to the boy’s brother Jeff, Boris had been threatened with death by a school mate he had a row with about a month ago.

Speaking exclusively to 3news.com, the deceased’s brother said the family suspects foul play in Boris’ death and are awaiting an autopsy to be carried on his body to confirm their suspicion. “He came home 3 weeks ago after a fracas with one of his mates in which he received a blow to his eye so he was given permission to come home.

“We have been communicating and everything has been okay but he had earlier complained to our father about the constant frowning by the student he had the fracas with in school.

“My parents had a call from the school that my brother was sick and had to come over so they quickly dressed up and moved to the school. “Upon arrival they were asked to go to the Kibi Government Hospital and when they got there they asked the nurses and the receptionist if someone had been brought there by the name Boris Commodore who happens to be my late brother and everybody looked surprised.

“The receptionist and the people around them referred them back to the school because the authorities were the best people to explain the whole situation to them”.

According to him, his parents were asked to go to the mission house where they met the school authorities who informed the father about the boy’s death. Jeff further went on to state that he was informed by some of his brothers mates that, he had come back to the dormitory from prep around 11pm and drank milo from his own chop box before taking in some gari soakings.

“I was told he started complaining of stomach pains around 12pm and his form master was informed about his situation but things got worse as he started vomiting blood but was not able to survive as he died before arriving at the hospital.”

Police

According to Jeff the case was reported to the police who said they can only start investigations based on the outcome of the autopsy report

Morgue

“When we saw him at the morgue, there was foam coming out of his mouth and nostrils so clearly anyone at all can pinpoint that this is clear poison or probably suspect foul play somewhere.”

He said, “We were told that there was no equipment at the morgue in the Eastern Region to perform an autopsy on my brother’s, so the body has to be transferred to the Police Hospital for the autopsy to be done so we will be taking him there tomorrow”.

An Assistant Headmaster of the St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Senior Technical School, who does not want to be named, confirmed to 3news that he was told by the students that the boy vomitted blood before he died. He said the left overs of the milo and gari soakings he drank before his untimely death had been packaged and locked up for police investigations
