Managing Director of Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), Dr. Clifford Braimah has said it is disheartening for former president Mahama to describe the invasion of national security officers into SOFTtribe's office as a "rambo-style.
He added that such remarks are highly unacceptable in society.
Mr Mahama in a Facebook post on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, alleged that the government is using the National Security machinery to infringe upon the human rights of Ghanaians.
“I associate with the justifiable outrage expressed by many Ghanaians this morning upon receiving news of a Rambo-style raid on the offices of SOFTtribe. We all join in condemning the reckless invasion of their premises, and the seizure of electronic equipment including mobile phones of staff,” his post read.
According to Mr Mahama, SOFTribe over the years has proven to be a leader of innovation in IT.
“Over the years, SOFTtribe has proven to be a leader of local content innovation in IT. They are one of the indigenous companies that have introduced various digital solutions and impacted positively on payroll management and crime prevention among others. And, their footprints stretch beyond Ghana,” the statement added.
But in a press conference to address the recent tension between GWCL and their business partner SOFTtribe, the managing director of GWCL stated that Mahama should have known better as a statesman to fact-check his information before spewing out such statements in public.
He said, “I think we should be confronting instead of trying to play the game that is beginning to get political attention but I will not be distracted. I felt very sad that the former president did not find somebody to crosscheck from GWCL on our side because all the documents SOFTtibe was displaying were those that they had written to us, especially on allegations dating back 2016.”
Mr Braimah noted that though the contract of SOFTtribe has been terminated for violating ethical hacking provision since 2016, GWCL still pays them over GHC1million a month.
The managing director indicated that though the case is gaining political attention despite false allegations levelled against his company, he's however unperturbed and would pursue the issue until SOFTtribe faces the law for causing financial loss to the state.
