The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has appointed Mrs. Elizabeth Aggrey-Ampiah as its new Ag. General Manager, Finance effective November, 2018.
Prior to her appointment, she was the Payment Certification Manager of the Trust. She had previously worked as Accounts Manager, Audit Manager, and Treasury Manager all within the Trust. Mrs. Aggrey-Ampiah also worked briefly as an audit trainee at KPMG Ghana from February, 2006 to May 2007.
During her tenure as Treasury Manager, Mrs. Aggrey-Ampiah maintained a sound cash and liquidity management system to ensure the Trust met its statutory obligations including pension payments. She ensured efficient and effective management for interest rate, exchange and default rates.
The newly appointed General Manager brings to her new role 36 years of rich experience in finance and social security administration.
Speaking on her appointment, she said "I will provide financial expertise, timely and quality information to management, the Board of Trustees and other Stakeholders in conformity with legal requirements and policies”.
She added that even though it was an onerous task and a challenging honour to be the first female to be appointed to the position and she is up and ready for the task ahead.
Asked whether she feels pressured being the first female to be appointed to the position, she responded in the negative indicating “there is pressure with the position but I have the fortitude and know-how to get it done”.
Background
Mrs. Aggrey-Ampiah holds an Executive Masters of Business Administration(EMBA) in Finance from the University of Ghana Business School(UGBS) Legon, a Bachelor of Science in Applied Accounting from the Oxford Brookes University, UK and a Higher National Diploma(HND) Accountancy from the Accra Technical University (formerly Accra Polytechnic).
The finance expert has attended several training programmes and workshops in the UK, USA, UAE (Dubai), Holland and Ghana.
She is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) and Institute of Internal Auditors(IIA).
