The Public Procurement Authority (PPA) has replied a news story MyNewsGh.com published about their outfit having been badly exposed by New Patriotic Party (NPP) member and musician Kwame A-Plus over a fake figure they put up on the Authority’s website being the ‘bloated’ cost for auditing and reviewing contracts signed under the previous government of John Mahama.

The PPA avers that they are not responsible for the wrong entry on their website, which saw GHS 337,685.60 becoming GHS 33,768,560 million. They said any insinuation of that is borne out of ‘ignorance’ as SSNIT is the body which awarded the said contract and made a mistake which they were prompted to correct.

MyNewsGh.com reported how the figures were changed ‘miraculously’ when A-plus opened fire on the PPA.

Kwame A-PLUS also questioned the sense in procuring the services of KPMG at whatever amount when the country has a functioning Audit Service who are paid and resourced to do the same work. The PPA failed to respond to this, as they maintain they are not the awarding agency.

A-PLUS comes at PPA again

The young musician and activist at the center of the controversy, Kwame A-Plus is not letting the matter die down.

He goes hard on PPA again after their response, calling them ‘ a bunch of nation wreckers’.

He wrote: “In Ghana when you tell people in power that their cup is dirty, instead of washing their dirty cup they go about looking for your dirty spoon. I asked how come we spent over 33 million cedis of poor pensioner’s money on auditing when we have an audit service, a government agency mandated by law to audit even the bank of Ghana? Then you start by calling me ignorant in your release but admit in the same release that it was a mistake. If it was a mistake can’t you simply state that it was a mistake, apologize and correct it? And what are you telling us? That the figure was uploaded to your website by SNNIT? PPA does not have an IT department that verifies figures before uploading it on your website?” he asked.

He went on: “I don’t believe you guys. I think you were either conniving with SNNIT to steal poor pensioner’s money but have been caught pants down or you have already stolen the money and have only corrected it on your website. You have to make the contract document available to the public as evidence of the updated figure.”

He ended: “And wait ooo, did you say it was only 337 thousand and not 337 million? Does that change the fact that you are a bunch of nation wreckers wasting this country’s money on KPMG when there is an audit service which could do it for free? How many other government agencies are paying KPMG that amount? Bost? VRA? ECG? TOR? Cocobod? DVLA? Are you not the same people who supervised the awarding of the KelniGVG contract? See these people ooo”
