STC bus kills two people at Dadieso

Dadieso (Ash), Aug 2, GNA- Two persons standing by the road died on the spot while six others sustained serious injuries, when a Kumasi-bound intercity STC bus skidded off the road and hit them on Tuesday night at Dadieso on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

The vehicle ran over an electricity transformer, which had been mounted on three wooden high-tension poles and crashed into two nearby houses.


The bodies of the deceased, which have not been identified, had been deposited at the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital as well as the injured, including the driver and his assistant.


An eyewitness account stated that at about 9 pm on Tuesday, the bus skidded off the road and hit the deceased who were by the roadside. He said the vehicle further hit the high-tension poles and the transformer and crashed into the two houses.

Mr Opoku said a man and his family who were asleep in one of the houses got injured while some residents who saw the vehicle ran for their lives.


Some of the passengers on the bus also got injured and they were rushed to the Holy Family Hospital.


A police source at Asankare police barrier confirmed the accident.
