Sachet water price up by 25 percent

Kumasi, May 3, GNA - The Association of processed Drinking Water producers has announced a 15 percent increase in the price of sachet water.

A press statement issued by the association and signed by its chairman, Mr Patrick Adu-Gyamfi in Kumasi said the upward adjustment of the price, followed series of stakeholders meetings held under the auspices of the Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Council.

A bag of 30 sachets would now go for 5,500 cedis with the unit price at 250 cedis.

The statement said in arriving at the decision, they took into consideration the increase in overheads as a result of the increase in packing rubber, carbonated filters, sponge filters and the utilities, among others.

The statement appealed for public support, understanding and co-operation.

The association recently attempted pushing up the price of sachet water from 200 cedis to 300 cedis, representing an increase of 50 percent but had to abandon the attempt following the intervention of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo.
