The Director of Operations of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Nana Ofori Owusu wants President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to sack the Interior Minister, Ambrose P Dery and Director of Immigration, Kwame Asuah Takyi .

He observes that the conduct of the two in respect of the handling of the case involving an Indian businessman, smacks of lawlessness and the earlier they are relieved of their duties, the better for the image of infant government

“Ambrose Dery and the Immigration boss are turning Ghana into a banana republic….what at all is their interest in this case? You acted lawlessly and the court directed you to act otherwise but you are adamant what kind of behavior is that"?

"I think they should resign over this case after a court’s ruling said they acted capriciously…..this is a clear case of abuse of power and acting illegally. Do they know the magnitude of what they have done? Why will they be at post when the court has told them they are not acted legally? The president should sack them immediately”, he pleaded on Okay FM.

Ghana Immigration Service has accused embattled Indian businessman, Ashok Kumar Sivaram of attempting to enter Ghana illegally after he was deported from the country.

“On the 3rd of August, 2017, Mr. Ashok Sivaram attempted to enter the country illegally without an entry visa and this is in breach of section 4 of the Immigration Act, 2000, Act 573 which provides for the condition of entry into Ghana,” a statement from the Service stated.

Mr. Ashok head earlier petitioned President Akufo-Addo to call the Minister of Interior and the Comptroller of the Ghana Immigration Service to order over what he termed as harassment from the aforementioned personalities.

But Nana Ofori Owusu questioned the interest of the Minister and the Immigration Chief in the matter stressing:” Both of them are lawyers who want the court to have their say but they have their way. Have they been appointed to collapse businesses?

Their conduct is an affront to justice in the country. When the president lost the election petition that was taken to court he said he disagreed with the outcome but accepted the verdict but why will people who work under him disrespect the court”, he asked.
