Outspoken Senior Lecturer of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr Richard Amoako Baah has asked the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to immediately sack General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong.
The head of the Political Science Department of KNUST claims Mr Agyepong’s continuous stay in office will have a serious toll on the opposition party.
He made this known in an exclusive interview with TV3’s William Evans Nkum on Friday, May 8.
Recent developments within the top rank of the NPP have confirmed perceptions of a deep rift especially between the Chairman and General Secretary on one hand, and the rest of the national executives and the flagbearer on the other.
An emergency Steering Committee Meeting held on Monday, May 4 was without Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary Agyepong.
Though senior party members have described the Meeting as procedurally constitutional, Mr Agyepong slammed executives present as sabotaging him and the Chairman.
According to him, there was nothing emergency about Monday’s Meeting.
But Dr Amoako Baah is advising the party to immediately sack Mr Agyepong to better its chances of reclaiming power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
