Main opposition New Patriotic Party stalwart, P.C. Appiah-Ofori says fellow party stalwart Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey must be dismissed from the NPP.

The former Legislator told XYZ News he finds it befuddling that Dr. Wereko-Brobbey will still be issuing statements that are very critical of the party despite his two-year suspension.

In his latest response to his suspension, the former Volta River Authority CEO, on Thursday July 11, 2013, described the punishment handed to him as a “tragic comedy”.

In a separate statement issued that same day, he described the Publisher of the New Statesman Newspaper Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, cousin to the party’s 2012 Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, as a “pirate and bandit”.

P.C. Appiah Ofori says the party should have done away with Dr. Wereko-Brobbey rather than exercised leniency on him.

“…I expected complete expulsion, so if he has been given a suspension for two years, personally I don’t even support the party’s decision…as far as I’m concerned, the suspension for two years is not enough, he should have been expelled,” he noted.

As part of the sanctions, Dr Wereko-Brobbey has been asked by the party to render an apology for his actions.

A member of the disciplinary committee, Nii Ayikoi Otoo, speaking to XYZ News said Dr. Wereko-Brobbey may suffer the ultimate consequence if he remains obdurate.
