The Bureau for Internal Affairs (BIA), an anti-corruption organisation, is calling on President John Dramani Mahama, to terminate the appointment of appointees, who are pursuing further studies at the detriment of their work.

A statement issued by Mr Yakubu Abdul-Jalil, Director, Research and Monitoring of BIA said at this critical moment of the economy, it is unheard of for people to be in key positions and double as students.

It said the tendency would encourage lack of punctuality at work as a result of other engagements and low productivity.

“As an anti-corruption organisation we are not against any Ghanaian who seeks to build his or capacity but our concern is the nature of the engagement which contravenes the national interest.

“These officials receive salaries at the end of the month despite their absence at work, “the statement said.

It said: “To ensure a growing economy, our outfit sees the urgency attached to our call to the President in terminating the appointment of “student appointees.”
