A security analyst Adam Bonah says sacked Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu, performed below par throughout the two-and-a-half years he held the high office.

On the back of kidnappings and general violent crimes recorded in the country in recent times, Mr. Bonah held the outgone IGP performed poorly, for which reason he would overall rate him 30 percent.

COP Asante-Apeatu was on Monday, July 22 relieved of his post by President Nana Akufo-Addo with less than a month to the end of his contract.

Though his contract was scheduled to end on August 14, he was asked to hand over to his deputy, James Oppong-Boanuh and proceed on leave with immediate effect.

No reasons were given for the decision.

Commenting on the issue on 3FM Sunrise morning show Tuesday, Mr. Bonah who is the chief executive of Security Warehouse Limited said Mr. Asante-Apeatu had the worst security challenges during his tenure.

“Week in week out, there are kidnapping challenges. Though it has gone down, we have had series of violent crimes, series of road accidents, violent demonstrations, uncountable security challenges and safety challenges under the term of the ex IGP,” he said.

He was emphatic the ex- IGP “should have put in more measures to have a firm grip of the security in this country’’.

“We have several Mobile Money kiosks all over this country, and some of us proposed there should be a security regulation, but as at now nothing seems to happen…” he indicated.
