The whereabouts of the teacher is still unknown
A Senior House Master of the Salaga Senior High School (SHS) in the East Gonja District of Northern Region has shot and injured one of two students who was said to be smoking wee on campus.
The students, MyNewsGh.com gathered, were suspended for engaging in a similar act but found their way onto the campus of the school during entertainment session over the weekend and were seen smoking the substance in the full glare of the colleagues with impunity.
Mr. Asuma Sulley’s attention was immediately drawn to the presence of the two truant students by members of the school’s cadet corps because they were per their suspension not allowed to come close to the school.
The trigger-happy teacher armed himself with a single barrel gun and headed in the direction of the culprits. The two students on seeing him fled, but he fired at them at close range, injuring 19-year-old Mohammed Abdul- Rauf on both legs.
The other, it was established, managed to escape from harm but his colleague who sustained the gunshot wound was immediately rushed to the Salaga district hospital where he was treated and discharged.
Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yusif Mohammed Tanko who confirmed the incident said efforts are underway to get the alleged teacher apprehended to assist in investigations.
Meanwhile, MyNewsGh.com has gathered that teacher in question has fled the campus and till date his whereabouts unknown.
