Tema, Oct. 05, GNA - A salesgirl at Kaysens Limited, a company that deals in Unilever products, has appeared before the Tema Circuit Court for stealing 36.2 million cedis belonging to her employers.

Ethel Bani, who engaged in the act from December 2003 to May 2004, pleaded not guilty to the charge and had been granted 80 million cedis bail with a surety to re-appear on October 7, 2004.

Police Inspector Ben Agbedanu, told the court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that on August 23 last year, Bani collected goods from her employers for sale but could not account for the amount.

The prosecution said Bani could not refund the money though she pleaded with the Director of the company to allow her sometime to settle the debt.

Bani vacated her post and could not be seen again until the police arrested her in her hide-out.
