Contrary to claims two Regional Executives of New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be subjected to public ridicule for their appointments into the Board of Kumasi abattoir, Bernard Antwi Boasiako alias Chairman Wontumi disagrees.
In his view, their appointments as Board Members remains the best thing that ever happened to the establishment partly owned by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
He believes the popularity of both will soar in no time and they will have enough food on their table as it is biblically enshrined that “And give us our daily bread” in the Lords prayer.
“Sam Pyne and Kwasi Kyei will get more fans than any of us here. They will have enough meat to eat and they will never lack. This time round Bugri Naabu cannot boast with his beef because I have Sam Pyne and Kwasi Kyei working at Mayanka. All I need to do is place a call and I have enough to eat”, he disclosed on Okay Fm.
Chairman Wontumi stated that the appointment is not derogatory revealing that two are content with it and are prepared to give off their best to society.
Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwasi Kyei has hit back at persons trolling him over his appointment as board member of Kumasi Abattoir.
He confirmed that he and the Regional Secretary of the party, Sam Pyne have indeed been appointed to the board indicating that there is nothing shameful about it.
Mr Kyei disclosed that he is prepared to man a refuse dump even if the president chooses to employ him there to bring his experience to the fore wondering why many are making a mince meal at of his appointment.
In his opinion, they will work to the best of their ability to ensure that radical changes are brought to the abattoir to guarantee the safety of persons who buy and consume meat from the place.
Yes it’s true that we (Sam Pyne and I) have been appointed board members of the Kumasi Abattoir. We have accepted the appointments, we have visited the facility, we have a lawyer on the board at the appropriate time, his name will be out, we have a chairman and an accountant, the butchers have their representatives on the board as well, ’he said.
‘We will ensure that meat is hygienically treated, veterinary officers are qualified, packaging should be looked at. Somebody needs to do the job, and we have been chosen, I’m I greater or bigger than somebody?, there is no need to feel superior in our efforts to push Ghana forward. We will do the work diligently to promote the Kumasi Abattoir,’ he promised.
Mr Kyei disclosed that he visited the Kumasi Abattoir after receiving his appointment letter saying the country will rake a lot of revenue if the Abattoir is given the needed attention by doing away with the obsolete machines.
‘We need to use bio-gas technology to power the butchers’ ovens which will then prevent them from using car tyres in preparing the sheep, goats and cattle in order to get wholesome meat,’ he said.
