Ghanaian champions Samartex were eliminated from the CAF Champions League on September 21, 2024, following a 2-0 loss to Raja Casablanca in Morocco.
This result confirmed a 4-2 aggregate defeat, sending the Moroccan giants to the group stage while Samartex joins Nsoatreman in exiting African competitions this season.
Having drawn 2-2 in the first leg in Accra, Samartex hoped for an upset, but Raja proved too strong. Marouane Zila scored just before halftime, and Naoufel Zerhouni sealed the victory with a second goal in the 88th minute.
Despite the disappointment, Samartex expressed optimism about the experience, stating, "This experience offers numerous lessons that we can use to improve and strengthen our performance in the future."
The club will now focus on the Ghana Premier League, with upcoming matches against Bibiani Gold Stars and Medeama SC, aiming to defend their domestic title and secure another chance to compete in Africa next season.
