Ghana's Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, has emphasized the pivotal role of education in transforming individuals and society at large.

Speaking at the annual Muslim Ladies Conference in Kumasi, she described the pursuit of knowledge as a spiritual journey that enriches the soul, calling for a balance between traditional values and modern advancements.

She advocated for collective empowerment through education, highlighting its significance in building resilient communities based on love, unity, and mutual support. Urging unity among Muslims, Samira Bawumia called on them to rise above political divisions and focus on shared faith and values.

“Each of our actions carries significant weight,” she remarked, encouraging active community engagement and underscoring the potential of education and collaboration to create a brighter future.

Samira Bawumia's message resonated strongly with attendees as she underscored the role of education in societal development and the need for continued female empowerment.

National President of the Ghana Muslim Students' Association (GMSA), Abdul Rahman Alhasan, also addressed the conference, themed “Reclaiming Femininity: The Islamic Narrative.”

He emphasized the vital roles Muslim women in higher education can play in transforming society and how they should be encouraged to reach the highest levels of achievement.

Alhasan noted that the Second Lady’s presence at the event was intended to inspire the women, showing them that Muslim women are capable of great accomplishments in society.

He dispelled misconceptions that Muslim communities restrict women from reaching higher educational levels, labeling such ideas as misconceptions.

According to him, many Muslim women have significantly impacted society through their academic pursuits.

However, Alhasan pointed out some challenges the association faces, including a lack of funding and the occasional absence of key personalities at their events.

He urged high-profile individuals, particularly those in the Muslim community, to honour GMSA programs and serve as role models for the members.

He also called for financial support from affluent individuals, stressing that GMSA has produced many prominent personalities within the Muslim community and across Ghana.
