Sanitation fight: Ghana doesn’t just need laws but attitudinal change – Mahama

Former President and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has underscored the need for not only legislation but an attitudinal change in dealing with sanitation challenges in the country.

He made this known when he shared a video of refuse which had been dumped in gutters in Asylum Down, Accra and being washed away by running water.

He noted that although Ghana needs serious legislation to deal with poor sanitation practices, the fight won’t be won unless people in the country change their bad attitude of indiscriminately dumping refuse especially plastics on waterways.

His post sighted by MyNewsGh.com read “1st rains at Asylum Down, Accra. We really need drastic legislation about plastics, but most of all we need attitudinal change about how we handle litter”.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo while taking over the reins of government promised a clean Accra, however, the fight for a filth-free Accra seems to have been lost and the failure glaringly each time it rains fall.

Ghanaians on social media have always called on the government to accept its failure in fighting sanitation issues in the capital.
