Sankana Girls boarding Junior High School in the Nadowli-Kaleo district of the Upper West Region is set to commence before end of September this year.
As first of its kind in the region, the facility will provide the opportunity to girls all over the country to apply and be enrolled at the boarding school as JHS pupils.
This was disclosed when the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Nadowli-Kaleo District, Hon. Kathrine Lankono inspected progress of the first phase of the construction of Deluxe classroom block as part of the government of Ghana Urban Policy and Planning ministry of local government and rural development programme: "Integraed Rural Community Access Project with funding from the Government of Japan(JGCVF)".
Hon Katherine appealed to the contractor, Bill + Enterprise with supervision from Linked Consult and Management Services to speed up the construction of the class room block for the school to start this year.
She called on the traditional authorities of the Sankana traditional area to support government to provide more educational facilities to the area.
The DCE who is also a professional teacher called on all teachers who might be recruited to teach these girls to have the girls as their own daughters and teach them with all the professional techniques.
She also hinted that the head of the school will be a female.
The school will start programmes in General Arts and Home Economics.
