Schalke are interested in keeping defender Abdul Baba Rahman at the club for one more season according to German football news outlet Fussball Transfer.
Rahman, joined Schalke on a season long loan earlier this season after Antonio Conte made it clear the defender needs to step up his game to be a part of his squad.
The 22-year was ruled out of the remainder of the season after he picked up a knee injury while on international duty at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana.
According to reports, there’s no permanent option nor price set in Baba’s loan deal, meaning Schalke will have to start negotiations with Chelsea if they have any intentions of keeping him at the club.
Meanwhile,Schalke manager Christian Heidel has openly stated that he wants to keep him[Baba Rahman] at the club but admits it’s all left to Chelsea to decide if he stays or not.
“If it is somehow possible, we would like to keep him.” said Heidel
“I do not think it’s impossible for him to play for the season for Schalke. Of course, his home club Chelsea plays the decisive role,” he added
