Abuorso, April 12, GNA - Naa John Bosco Naeroh, Regional Manager of the Roman Catholic Education Unit, has deplored the non-functioning of most School Management Committees (SMCs). Speaking at the second speech and prize giving day of Abuorso Roman Catholic basic school, Naa Naeroh reminded the public that SMCs are recognized under the 1992 constitution of the fourth republic of Ghana and that they do not operate in vacuum. He called for revision and re-activation of SMCs and trained them to be up to their roles and responsibilities under the new educational reforms. He told parents that their refusal to provide basic school needs for their wards contributed to their poor academic performance.

Naa Naeroh asked parents not to shirk their responsibilities under the clock of free education, since the concept of free education was not absolutely free as parents perceived. He said Mission schools did not discriminate in the admission of pupils and appointment of teachers but rather ensured that good morals were instilled in pupils under their care. He therefore, asked parents to enroll their wards with the Roman Catholic schools, irrespective of their religion
