Gyahadze (C/R), Aug 15, GNA- A former Deputy Minister of Roads and Transport, Mr Mike Allen Hammah, has called on the authorities to reform the curriculum of schools and emphasise on science and technology. He said this would make the country's education more relevant to the socio-economic needs of the people.

Mr Hammah was speaking at a Speech and Prize-giving Day organised by the Ewutu-Efutu-Senya District Council Cluster of schools at Gyahadze, near Winneba.

He said time had come for children to be fully equipped with scientific and technological knowledge and skills that would make them marketable after schooling.

Mr Hammah said rapid development of every nation could be derived from human beings. There is therefore the need for the nation to develop a comprehensive education programme to propel the economy.

He advised parents to send their children to school, adding that it takes a long time to reap investment in education.

He urged the administrators of the GETFUND to apportion part of the fund to support vocational training institutes established by some religious organisations.

Mr Hammah cautioned students of basic and vocational training schools to get away from sex and concentrate on their studies.
