School dropout jailed

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Feb. 19, GNA - The Dormaa Ahenkro Circuit court, presided over by Mr. Justice Vincent Carl Senu, last Wednesday sentenced Evans Frimpong, a Secondary School dropout to two years imprisonment for stealing and breach of a bond to be of good behaviour. Evans pleaded guilty to both charges and was accordingly sentenced to two years and nine months respectively to run concurrently. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Matthew Yeboah told the court that the accused lived at the low cost quarters as the complainant on Schaefer Street at Dormaa-Ahenkro.

He said in the night of February 12, this year the complainant, a hairdresser, left home to visit a neighbour.

He said immediately she left, the accused sneaked into her room but a young child who saw him and rushed to inform the complainant who immediately returned to find Evans holding her two half pieces of wax print valued at 500,000 cedis.

Inspector Yeboah said the complainant reported the case to the police and Evans was arrested.

During proceedings, it was realized that Evans was brought before the court on January 29, 2007 on similar charges and was made to enter into a one year bond to be of good behaviour. 19 Feb 07
