Three School Projects at the cost of over GH¢ 117,814.00 has been inaugurated at Gbungbaliga, and Adibo in the Yendi Municipality of the Northern Region.
The projects include Gbangbaliga R/C JHS three unit classroom block at cost of over GH¢36,946.00, Adibo Primary School Feeding Programme kitchen at cost of GH¢15,648.00 and renovation of Early Childhood Development Centre at Adibo Primary School at the cost of GH¢65,220.00 all funded by Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC).
The Country Director of Christian Children’s Fund of Canada Mrs. Gifty Baka who commissioned the projects said the main concern of CCFC is children and their lives.
Mrs. Baka said for some time now Northern Region has been struggling in education particularly in the BECE examination results especially the girls did not perform well.
She indicated that they are contributing in education in order to complement the efforts of the government.
She noted that with the new three unit classroom block the children will not walk long distance to attend classes.
Mrs. Baka said that the teachers were the source of inspiration for the children and appealed to them to dedicate themselves to the teaching work.
She said the girls in the Gbungbaliga Roman Catholic Junior High School and Adibo JHS have football clubs and they should be competent in competing with the boys in both sports and education.
Mrs. Baka urged the teachers to work hard to improve on the performance of the schools in the BECE examination results. She announced that more projects will be commissioned from January to March 2015 and the commissioning, will including those in Nanumba North.
Mr. Divine Botsoe Hogba, Coordinator of Yendi Area Child Development Programmed (YACDP) of Assemblies of God Relief and Development Services (AGREDS) said YACDP is in the Yendi Municipality to help children to reach their highest level in education.
Mr. Hogba said they motivate teachers to put up their best through awards.
He announced that the programmes of such awards are organized by YACDP of AGREDS in partnership with CCFC.
Miss Gladys Bawa Ramatu an Assistant Director of Education Incharge of Human Resources in Yendi GES said the Yendi Ghana Education Service and the Assembly appreciate the efforts of CCFC and AGREDS for the numerous developmental projects that they carried out and continue to partner with Government to achieve its dream of ensuring that quality education is achieved not only in Yendi Municipality but the country at large.
Miss Gladys Ramatu noted that this cannot be achieved without embarking on infrastructure development and it is against this background that CCFC and AGREDS contributed their quata to expand infrastructure, provision of furniture and organization in the deprived communities of which Gbungbaliga is one of the beneficiary communities.
Miss Gladys Ramatu who diputised for the Yendi Municipal Director of Education Mr. Nelson Aborigiya said the staffs of Yendi Ghana Education service and Development Partners have expressed their displeasure about the results of the final year students of JHS of last year.
She advised parents to stop their pupil’s from negative practice like dancing late at night. She urged parent to help their pupil’s to study hard.
In another development three teachers of Adibo Junior High School, Gbungbaliga Primary School and Zugu R/C Primary School were awarded for their hard work by CCFC.
The overall best teacher award went to Mr. Sumani Alidu of Zugu R/C Primary School, he took home table top reterigerator Mr. Amadu Suale of Adibo JHS took home a Ceiling Fan and Mr. Abukari Mahama of Gbungbaliga Primary School took home electric iron.
Set of football jerseys each were presented to Adibo R/C JHS and Gbungbaliga R/C JHS girls teams. The Country Director of CCFC urged them to perform well so that one day they will play in the national women’s football team.
