As part of efforts to educate citizens and promote prevention and control of the spread of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic throughout the country, some individuals have began the distribution of protection materials and gear to help the situation.

One of such concerned individuals is Hon. Joycelyn Tetteh, Member of Parliament for North Dayi Constituency in the Volta Region.

Joycelyn together with her team have distributed veronica buckets to schools, hospitals, market centers, churches and other identifiable locations across the length and breadth of her constituency. Other items distributed by the team are soaps and hand sanitizers.

This, according to her, is an effort to promote regular washing of hands in schools, churches, market places and other locations as it has been advocated as one of the many recommended ways to control the spread of the Coronavirus.

The female lawmaker and her team however appealed to the residents of the constituency to take good care of the veronica buckets and always keep them filled with clean water with soap attached.

She further called on the people to all come together to help reduce the spread and eventually eliminate the deadly virus.

BACKGROUND

On March 12, 2020, the Minister of Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang-Manu in a live-streamed address to the nation, confirmed two cases of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

The confirmation of the two cases came just a day after the President of the Republic, H.E. Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo announced a $100 million budget to respond and effectively tackle the deadly virus.

Many public events, gatherings and meetings have since been canceled in an effort to prevent the spread of the virus.
