Sekondi, Jan 11, GNA - A Sekondi District Magistrate's Court on Monday sentenced Kojo Obeng, a 25-year old sculptor to 15 months imprisonment in hard labour for unlawfully entering the kitchen of a farmer. Obeng, who was charged with unlawful entry and stealing, pleaded guilty to only unlawful entry.

The court, therefore, ordered him to re-appear to stand trial for stealing on February 10.

Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Philip Obeng said the accused and Mumuni Briamah, the farmer, both lived in the same vicinity in Kwesimintsim near Takoradi.

He said Briamah lost a number of goats, fowls and other items through theft in his house.

At about 0200 hours on December 14 last year, Briamah was sleeping in the kitchen of his house with his wife when the accused broke into the kitchen.

The accused took away an aluminium drum used in storing water valued at 400,000 cedis and as he was taking it out of the house, Briamah shouted for help.

The accused was arrested with the help of some people in the community and handed over to the Police.
